Racial and Ethnic Discrimination

The Initiative Team for Racial and Ethnic Discrimination focused on racial inclusion in three areas: the political system, employment opportunities and educational opportunities.

Issue Statement:
Racial or ethnic discrimination limits opportunities and the quality of life of all people in the Wabash Valley.

Possibility Statement:
Efforts to eliminate racial or ethnic discrimination will help create a community using all of its citizen talent bank for the overall growth and success of the Wabash Valley.

Inclusion in Politics
Intended Outcome 1:
Increase awareness of the need for inclusion of minorities in our political system in the Wabash Valley.

Task Others Involved Time Line
Research the various political boards and commissions that are appointed/ elected. Employment Opportunities
Intended Outcome 2:
Increase awareness of the need for inclusion of minorities in employment opportunities in
the Wabash Valley.

Generate a central source for listing Wabash Valley area job openings and skill training programs; communicate this with minority communities through various agencies and the media. Same as above April 2004 – Ongoing
