MISSION: To provide wholesome meals to any child up to age
18 who come wanting a meal. Breakfast and lunch are served
during the summer (9 AM breakfast -1 PM lunch) and an evening meal
is served throughout the school year at 5:30 PM. PROGRAM IS FREE.
REQUEST FOR VOLUNTEERS: Volunteers are needed to assist with
daily meal preparation, serving and clean up. A large volunteer
team is required to feed so many children, especially during the
summer months when two teams are needed to prepare breakfasts and
lunches.
WISH LIST: Ongoing donations of food items, financial support,
and volunteers are required to maintain the extent of this outreach.
Grocery gift cards from area supermarkets are appreciated
to buy weekly perishable foods (milk, eggs, cheese meats).
Canned fruits and vegetables, pastas, pasta sauces, tuna, meat,
bread products, fresh fruit and vegetables, desserts, soups, and
stews, and all other food donations are accepted. Often times
when we are closed for holidays, we prepare take-home sacks of food
for the children to have and we need individually packaged, easy
to prepare items for the children (granola bars, individual cereals,
fruit cups, juice boxes, tuna kits, peanut butter or cheese crackers,
etc.) Summer moths will demand breakfast foods and lunch-type foods
easy to pack for sack lunches on days the children will be on summer
field trips.
