MISSION:  A humanitarian organization led by volunteers and guided by its Congressional Charter and the Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross movement to provide relief to victims of disaster and help people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies.

REQUEST FOR VOLUNTEERS:

  • Disaster volunteers to respond to home fires in their county of residence and provide Red Cross disaster relief to the affected familiesrespond to disasters outside the Wabash Valley - train for casework, shelter operations, health services, mental health services, logistics, accounting, records and reports, food services, emergency response vehicle drivers, and government liaison.  Travel expenses paid.
  • Health & Safety volunteers to work locally and to become:
    1. Leaders for Together We Prepare, Babysitting, Pet First Aid, Whales Tales, First Aid for Children Today and Act Smart.
    2. Teachers in CPR, First Aid, Basic Aid Training for Youth, Water Safety, Life guarding, HIV/AIDS.
  • Armed Forces Emergency Services caseworkers to help keep local military families connected,
  • Support services volunteers including data entry, receptionist, wash vehicles, flowerbed maintenance, webmaster, and conduct customer satisfaction surveys.

WISH LIST:  CPR training manikins, new toys for children whose homes burn down, multimedia projector, fireproof file cabinets, display board, fax machine, bookcase, lawnmower, microwave, refrigerator/freezer and disposable gloves that are latex free and powder free, carpet runners, classroom tables/chairs, folding tables, new office chairs.

INTERNSHIPS AVAILABLE:  Marketing, public relations, community health, sociology, education, information technology, research, accounting, human resources, fund development.
